📱 What is the Okta Verify app?

Okta Verify is an app (different from Okta) that will allow you to verify your Okta identity. You will need it if,

• you are setting up your Okta account for the first time

• you got a new device

• your work device has been reset

⚠️ Depending on your scenario there are different set up processes, so make sure you follow the correct guide!

🚀 How to set up Okta Verify for the first time

Follow one of these guides if it is the first time that you are installing Okta Verify on any device.

📲 How to set up Okta Verify on a new device

Follow this guide if you've already set up Okta Verify on at least one device but you would like to set it up on a new device.

To set up Okta Verify on your new device, you will need to have access to another device with Okta Verify. You can then set up Okta Verify using bluetooth. Just follow one of these guides here, depending on the device you're trying to set up:

• Mac
• Windows
• Phone (from Mac)
• Phone (from Windows)

Phone to Mac

1. On your laptop, open Okta Verify

   

2.  Click Add account from another device
3. On your phone, open the Okta Verify app
4. Click on your account and then Add account to another device
5. Verify with your fingerprint to generate a code
6. Go back to your laptop and enter the 8 digit pin displayed beneath the QR code
7. Now enter the 6 digit pin on your phone
8. On your laptop, click Enable Touch ID
9. Your account has been successfully added! 

Phone to Windows

1. On your laptop, open Okta Verify
2. Click Add account from another device
3. On your phone, open the Okta Verify app
4. Click on your account and then Add account to another device
5. Verify with your fingerprint to generate a code
6. Go back to your laptop and enter the 8 digit pin displayed beneath the QR code
7. Now enter the 6 digit pin on your phone
8. On your laptop, click Enable Hello Confirmation
9. Your account has been successfully added! 

Mac to Phone

1. On your laptop, open Okta Verify
2. Select your account, and click Add account to another device
3. Authenticate with Touch ID or password to generate a code
4. Now, go to your phone and open the Okta Verify app
5. Click Add account from another device
6. Allow bluetooth
7. Click Scan QR code
8. Allow Okta Verify to access your camera and scan the QR code from your laptop
9. Wait for it to connect then, on your laptop, enter the pin displayed on your phone
10. On your phone, click got it, and allow notifications
11. Enable screen lock confirmation
12. Done!

Windows to Phone

1. On your laptop open Okta Verify
2. Click on your account, then click Add account to another device
3. Click OK to generate a code
4. Now go to your phone, and click Add account from another device
5. Allow bluetooth
6. Click scan QR code
7. Allow Okta verify to access your camera and scan the code from your laptop
8. Wait for it to connect and, on your laptop, enter the pin displayed on your phone
9. On your phone, click Got it, and allow notifications
10. Enable screen lock confirmation 
11. Done!

If you don't have access to the other device where Okta Verify is already registered, you will need to ask for an Okta Verify reset from the TechOps team.

🔄 How to reinstall Okta Verify on the same device

If you've uninstalled Okta Verify from your device without removing your account first, Okta will still think that it is registered. This means that re-registering the device is the same process as setting up a new one. Just follow the same guide for new devices above.

You will still need another device with a working Okta Verify registration in order to set up this device. If you don't have one, you'll need to ask for an Okta Verify reset from the TechOps team.
