🌐 Set Up Okta

⚠️ If you're working remotely, your brand-new laptop might have already arrived, but make sure you set up your Okta account first before opening it. 

What is Okta?

Okta is your digital ID whilst working at Octopus. Just like when you see a "Sign in with Facebook/Google" button for your personal accounts, you will see a "Sign in with Okta" button for Octopus Energy applications and systems. This means you don't have to remember lots of passwords for all these other systems, but just the one Okta password.

Getting started with Okta

1. Before your first day you should have received a message from Okta on your personal email. 

2. First, download the Okta Verify app onto your phone, and then follow the activation link in the email to get started.

   

3. The link will take you to a page to set up your Okta password.
   
   ⚠️ We recommend choosing a long passphrase, instead of a shorter, more complex password with numbers and special characters. This will make it much more memorable in the long run. Try using this password generator for assistance, and check out this guide here on creating secure passwords.

4. Follow the steps on your phone to complete your account set-up and identity verification. You will end up in the Okta Verify app that you’ve already downloaded.

What if I forget my Okta password?

If you forget your password, don’t worry. You can reset it with Okta Verify - just follow this guide here. 

Can I use Okta Verify on multiple devices?

Yes you can use Okta Verify on multiple devices, but you’ll need to set it up following a different method. You can find instructions here. 

Can I access Okta from my personal computer? 

Only use your work device to access Okta. This is because your work device will have the necessary security in place to prevent data leaks.
